That test was kinda pointless but I figured I'd upload it anywaysĪfter that you have every synths playing the same chord progression all the way through, each audio file is labeled accordinglyĪ lot of the synths I tried are very different form eachother, but I tried to make them all sound as close to possible to Sylenth1 without utilizing any EQ "chord progression" is a chord progression from one of my upcoming tracks, it basically goes from Sylenth1 to the synths being tested in order "chord" is a simple chord, order is the same as the first test I placed them somewhat in order as to which I though sounded the closest The synths being tested are ANA, Massive, Strobe, ElectraX, Saurus, Zebra2 and Dune "4 octave" is just simple 4 octaves, first synth you hear is Sylenth1, and you hear it again after every synth being tested So I've uploaded some audiofiles of my latest testģ20kbps MP3s are attached, 44.1khz 24bit samples can be downloaded form here
SYLENTH1 FOR MAC 64 BIT PATCH
I've spent the past few weeks trying to find a synth that could sound anywhere close to this simple Sylenth1 patch Quite simple really, just a regular supersaw patch that many synths could recreate? WRONG
Here's the Sylenth1 patch I tried to recreate: Note that this is a supersaw test, all the synths were set to have an open lowpass filter, either 12db or 2 poles (which I'm pretty sure is the same thing, correct me if I'm wrong) So I've put all these possible Sylenth1 64-bit alternatives to the tests and here are the audio files and my thoughts Check out this high resonance cutoff sweep. Its filter (let alone other components) is very weak. This synth strikes a nice balance between Sylenth, Massive and the Virus TI in my opinionĭune doesn't really compare with any of these synths. But you get a lot in return, Wavetables, FM, PWM, Hard Sync (though this seems a bit limited in Spire), insane (and i mean INSANE) modulation abilities, better effects (imho of course). I think the only thing that I'm missing from Sylenth1 (in terms of features) is the filter drive. ARP and Step Sequencer are coming up and then CPU reduction which will hopefully be dramatic. The synth is still not "really" at 1.0, I'd still call it a beta. Reveal Sound :: Spire SynthesizerI've been thoroughly demoing Spire and must agree that Spire is incredible! It reminds me a lot more of my Virus TI than Sylenth1 did but naturally Sylenth1 is great in its own right.
They are currently working to bring down CPU use and a bunch of other stuff, but Spire has a lot of promise. Lot's of work still to be done, but Spire does terrific Supersaw and Hypersaw and generally sounds amazing while burning through CPU. However, Spire is definitely a contender. The Virus is amazing in my book, but at the price hardly a Sylenth replacement for most.
